Alex, short for Aleksa, is Jack's best friend and is also planning to enlist in the air force when she graduates college. She has no interest in piloting, and instead is content to work in whatever position her superiors see fit to place her in. She only hopes that she and Jack will remain together for awhile, and will remain in touch. She doesn't understand her feelings for Jack, and prefers not to explore them too closely.
